About the Podcast
Entitled "Ang Tibay ng mga Pilipino” (The Fortitude of the Filipinos), this podcast is based off of interviews of people from my home country, the Philippines, to get their ground responses on how differences in location can affect their perspectives of the COVID-19 pandemic. I reached out to sources to interview, divided into three episodes:
-
those who have been in the Philippines for the entire time (Michael Ellis Co and Pammie Alianan)
-
those who were studying abroad and chose to fly home abruptly (Sam Fabella and Irijah de Leon)
-
those who are studying abroad and chose to stay in their respective country (Matthew Cole and Sabine Villaroman)
My sources are primarily freshmen college students because I believe their perspectives would be beneficial for future historians to analyze, as Dr. O’Brien stated in her hypothetical scenario to consider sources that future college students who are studying the pandemic would like to see.

In addition to getting the Filipinos’ responses to the pandemic, two sub-focuses in my project target comparing government and public health responses in the U.S. and Philippines (specifically for group B) and instances of xenophobia that have risen as a result of the pandemic (specifically for group C since they remain in Western countries).
